Pressure-treated timber sleepers are designed to resist fungal decay and insect attack. However, pressure treatment alone does not make timber waterproof, and prolonged moisture exposure can still affect its condition over time.
At LifeTime Ponds, we take additional steps to protect the timber used in our sleeper pond construction.
Before assembly, every sleeper receives two full coats of high-quality protective varnish on all sides, including the ends. This provides an additional moisture-resistant barrier, helping to reduce water absorption and protect the timber against weathering.
Combined with our careful construction methods, this additional protection helps improve the timber's long-term durability and reduces the risk of premature deterioration.
